Aggrieved Passenger threatens to sue Airline
An aggrieved passenger has threatened to sue an airline, aero, for refusing to refund alleged payment for ticket after it failed to provide a scheduled plane for passengers.
The passenger also called on the federal government to wade in, and stop ongoing maltreatment of Nigerians and other travelers by aero, a local airline in the country.
This medium gathered that the airline on Wednesday did not provide the aircraft scheduled to convey passengers to Bauchi State, as it announced about one hour after the slated departure time that the Airbus was already full to capacity.
The 9:10am flight from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, to the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Airport in Bauchi State, was allegedly booked a day earlier, on November 16, 2021.
Speaking on the incident, one of the affected passengers, Dr Garus Gololo called on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and relevant government agencies to intervene and recover money paid the airline by affected passengers.
“I paid for the ticket since yesterday (November 16). They didn’t tell us that their plane was already filled to capacity until we got to the airport.
It was then that they informed us that the plane was full and that we will have to return the next day to board another plane,” he lamented.
He also bemoaned the “nonchalant attitude of the airline to customers satisfaction,” adding that the airline refused to refund stranded passengers their monies.
According to him, “N37,000 may not be much but in this case involving a breach of contract by aero, they should pay back the money otherwise I will be left with no option but to approach the court for redress,” he maintained.
This medium explored avenues to reach the management of the airline without success.
Even the company’s official website had no contact number for this purpose.
Efforts also to reach to reach the Public Relations Officer for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) was unsuccessful as his phone number remained switched off as at the time of filing this report.
