2023: The Nigerian Alliance to sponsor 36 young eligible candidates
Following the clamour for youths participation in politics, The Nigerian Alliance (TNA) has said it will support thirty-six young progressive candidates interested in vying for political offices in the 2023 general election.
According to them, the candidates will be drawn from the six geopolitical zones in the country.
Addressing a press conference on Monday in Abuja, with the theme “This is our time”, the Executive Director of The Nigerian Alliance, Simi Olusola said the move is in line with efforts to change the narrative and elect leaders who will work to create equality, justice and liberty for all.
Olusola noted that TNA is building a society for every Nigerian and that it has developed seven pillars to address the many political issues facing the country. The seven pillars are: Right to life, Universal Healthcare, Freedom of Speech, Police Reform, Equity and Inclusion, Restoring and A living Wage.
She said “We must ensure power rests in the hands of the people electing everyday Nigerians to political offices – who are not necessarily beholden to political parties and corporations. Democracy is built on representative, and ensuring our elected representatives make sound legislation.
“We are calling on every person intent on a Nigeria we can all be proud of to come and join us on this journey. If you have the ambition to vie for a state or federal house of assembly seat, our doors are open to you.
“To every person with the burning desire to build Nigeria up, this is the time. This is your time. This is our time! And to usher us into that time, we hereby announce that we’ll be supporting 36 young progressives candidates who want to run for office in 2023” she added.
The Executive Director said the application exercise is strictly for young candidates from age forty – five and below adding that application portal is open for candidates from today (November 15) and closes December 12, 2021.
She said TNA will be working political parties in the country to achieve this feat.
Also Speaking, Project Lead for The Nigerian Alliance, Sharon Orisakwe called for supports from well meaning Nigerians.
Orisakwe said “If you are a young person out there willing and ready to fight for Nigeria, a young person that has a heart for the people and a young person with competence, our applications are now open. Go to our website http://thenigerianalliance.org to know what step you need to take.
“We are also throwing our doors of partnership open to anyone who wants to help fix Nigeria, you can donate/sponsor in cash and in kind and you can lend your voice. This is our time and we need your help”.
