Breaking: Anambra governorship polls: Soludo’s APGA in ‘commanding’ lead
As at 5.00pm Sunday, a day after the Anambra State governorship election, results of various Local Governments in the State are being collated and CAPITAL POST reports that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is the candidate is in commanding lead.
As at the time of this report, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared 12
out of the 21 LGAs with APGA cornering results in larger and far above other contending political parties.
The collation which was being monitored by CAPITAL POST has it that the national officials of the electoral umpire have rejected results from wards and LGAs where there were cases of over voting, violence and where no evidence of election has shown.
The results are being collated in the hall where party representatives, INEC officials, Civil Society Organisations and security agents are present.
Our correspondent also reports that there is heavy presence of security agents in and around the venue of the collation centre to ensure a hitch-free votes count.
The Vice Chancellor Of University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi is the returning and collation officer of the election.
In the 12 Local Government Areas which Results have so far been declared, APGA won in 11 while Young Progressives Party (YPP) won in Nnewi North Local government area.
The Local governments so far declared are: Dunukofia, Awka South,Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anaocha.
Others are: Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Nnewi North and Orumba South.
