Rotary club of Naraguta, Jos, gets new President
The Rotary Club of Naraguta, Jos, has inaugurated Rotarian Mrs Hauwa Eferemo as its 37th president Rotarian
Eferemo, who was inaugurated at an investiture ceremony held at the weekend in Jos, would run the affairs of club for the next one year.
The new President, who joined the club in November 2014, also served in various positions including vice president, secretary and served in various Committees.
In a brief acceptance speech, Eferemo thanked members of the club for the confidence repose on her and promised to deliver.
She further promised to operate within the constitution of the club, adding that she would carry every member along.
She said the projects earmarked by the club which would be execute under her regime include donation of desks to primary schools, empowerment of widows, tree planting, free hepatitis screening, among others.
Eferemo called on members of public, particularly men and women of goodwill to support the club execute the outlined projects, insisting that “giving is in the mind, not how much someone has”.
Earlier, Gloria Thomas, the chairperson of the investiture committee, said that the event was to continue to with the tradition of the club.
Thomas added that the club’s theme for the 2021/2022 is “Serve to Change Life”
Highlight of the event was the bestowment of award excellence in some individuals, including Prof. Sebastian Maimako, the immediate past Vice Chancellor, University of Jos.
Similarly, the club seized the opportunity to make cash donations to 10 widows whom it had earlier trained on various skills, to enable them commence their businesses.
