Insecurity: Police nabs Kogi East based kidnappers, recovered arms, POS, dangerous charms

Reprieve came the way of communities around Itobe up to Anyigba area in Kogi East Senatorial district as some kidnappers who have long been terrorising the axis have been nabbed by the Police.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Command, DSP William Ovye Ayah which was made available to CAPITAL POST on Saturday, indicated that operatives attached to Itobe Division under Ajaokuta Area Command picked up the criminals after serious intelligence operations.

Change of Name

The statement reads: “Consequent upon the activities of criminal elements terrorizing Itobe and its environs particularly Itobe-Anyigba highway, on 16/10/2021 the Police operatives attached to Itobe Division under Ajaokuta Area Command arrested the duo of Danlami Shauibu and Kabiru Amodu both of Adumu village who were suspected to be responsible for series of kidnapped activities around the area.

“The suspects were arrested by the Police team following intelligence led operations to contain the activities of criminal elements in the area.

“The suspects confessed belonging to a gang responsible for terrorizing road users along Itobe-Anyigba highway.

“During preliminary investigation, one of the suspects gave a useful information that led to arrest of another suspect name Adejoh Tijani of the same address on 22/10/2021 at about 8:30am.

The Police noted that arms, POS machine, weapons and dangerous charms were recovered.

“Upon searched of their houses, the following items were recovered; *(1) One cut to size single barrel gun, (2) One locally made Pistol, (3) One POS Machine, (4) One battle axe, (5) One face mask, (6) Five live cartridges, and (7) some assorted charms.

The statement asserted that effort was being made to arrest the fleeing gang members, adding that suspects would be charged to court after Investigations might have been concluded.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, while commending the Officers for the breakthrough, assured members of the public of the Command’s determination to synergise with other security agencies in the State to ensure adequate safety of life and property.
