Ortom denies claims in viral video that ‘he sent trucks to convey Police officers’ from Enugu
Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has denied claims making round in viral video to the effect that he sent trucks to convey Police constables from Enugu State to Benue.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Terver Akase made available to CAPITAL POST on Saturday in Abuja, he said, the claim was coming from the coven of mischief makers, while describing it as totally untrue.
The statement read: “We watched a video trending on social media in which those who shot it were heard claiming that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom sent trucks to convey police constables from Enugu back to the state.
“It is important to state that the Government of Benue State did not hire trucks or other vehicles to convey the police recruits to the state.
“Governor Ortom only approved the request of the State Police Command for support, to enable it bring the constables back to the state from Nigeria Police Training School, Enugu.
“It was not the responsibility of the Governor to determine the type of vehicles the command would use for that purpose.
“We find the said video as an act of mischief and deliberate attempt to cast the Governor in bad light.
