2023: Akume boasts of APC taking over Benue
The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Benue State Government House in 2023.
Reacting to the conduct of the State Congress of APC in Makurdi on Sunday, the Minister said the peaceful conduct of the Congress indicated a good time to come and that is that APC will legitimately takeover governance in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Austin Agada was elected as the state APC chairman at the congress.
Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Chairman of the Electoral Committee who declared the result on Sunday in Makurdi, said that Agada polled 1,385 votes to beat his opponent, Mr Omale Omale, who boycotted the election.
He stated that 1,500 APC delegates voted in the election that produced other new officials, too.
Akume commended the leaders for conducting the congress peacefully, while he enjoined the newly elected executives to work hard to clinch power in 2023.
