2022 budget: FIRS to spend N550 million for light refreshments, 2.8 billion on uniforms, N17.8 billion on miscellaneous
As lawmakers were set to begin budget defence of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Monday, October 18, 2021, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has budgeted a whopping sums of N17.8 billion for miscellaneous expenses, N550 million for light refreshments, and N2.8 billion for staff uniforms for the year 2022.
In the budget proposal which the revenue generating agency of government would ask the National Assembly to approve for them to spend was also
N200m for sporting activities and N262.5 million as security votes for the Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Nami.
The figures were contained in the 2022 appropriation submitted to the Senate and the House of Representatives.
CAPITAL POST reported last week that the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has tasked the various Committees to be critical and question every overpricing items in order to cut cost.
Similarly, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Jibrin Barau has insisted that due diligence will be observed in the legislative process of the 2022 budget, even as the Committee will conduct public hearing on the budget to allow Nigerians ventilate their views.
