Ex-Plateau SSG, Bature emerges State APC Chairman
The immediate past Secretary to Plateau State Government, Hon. Rufus Bature has emerged Chairman of Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bature was also a former lawmaker who represented Barkin Ladi State Constituency from 1999 to 2007 in the State House of Assembly.
He emerged as a consensus candidate in the All Progressives Congress State congress which held at the Crest hotel on Saturday October, 16.
With the emergence of Bature, the State governor, Barr. Simon Lalong said the APC remains a beacon of democracy and a united family that is committed to peace and unity of Plateau and Nigeria at large.
Governor Lalong who spoke at the APC State Congress in Jos where members of the State Executive Committee were elected, said the level of maturity and seamless conduct demonstrated by members clearly shows the strength of the party in the State and the unity of its members.
The governor pointed out that the party adopted consensus in order to harmonise differences together as one united and big political family in Plateau.
He admonished the State executives to work in synergy with Local Government party executives and the ward levels in order to deepen the party in Plateau State, particularly that the party was to face the 2023 general election, adding that they should carry people along and be transparent in all their dealings.
Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase and other APC political leaders described the State Congress as yet another record breaking in the successes achieved by the party in the State.
“The successful congress shows that the party remains the biggest in the State with clear capacity for more victories in the forthcoming elections.
Wase urged members to come together and embrace reconciliation and patience in supporting the elected party officials to deliver on their mandate.
Meanwhile, the Chairman-elect, Hon. Rufus Bature appreciated members and leaders for electing them, saying further they were humbled in the manner they were elected through a consensus, promising that they would work hard.
He commended governor Lalong for giving the State the needed leadership that has endeared APC to the people and continued to give them hope. He said the party Executives will support him and also carry along all members at all times and also avail them level playing field for aspiring to any position.
