Zamfara State Assembly lawmakers alledgedly aiding bandits suspended
Two members of Zamfara State House of Assembly have been suspended for.aiding and collaborating banditry activities in the State.
Their suspension followed a motion sponsored by Yusuf Kanoma representing Maru North State Constituency on Tuesday.
The legislators who were suspended indefinitely are
Yusuf Muhammad representing Anka.Staye Constituency and Ibrahim Tukur representing Bakura for allegedly aiding banditry in the State.
The embattled State legislators are all members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before they were suspended, sponsor of the motion,
Kanoma called for their suspension over allegations that they were collaborating with bandits in Zamfara State.
Kanoma submitted that one of the suspended members was complicit in the death of their member, Muhammad Ahmad representing Shinkafi Constituency by offering bandits information.
Late Ahmad was killed on his way to Kano few months ago.
“The other was seen rejoicing after the kidnapp of our Speaker’s father, who died in bandits captivity,” he said.
The majority leader of the House, Hon. Faruku Dosara in his submission pointed out that
the allegations must be treated seriously and called for a thorough investigation by the House, adding that they should be investigated thoroughly.
Speaker Nasiru Magarya, thereafter, directed the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate the matter and report to the house in three months.
Recall that during the plenary all the 24 lawmakers, the Clerk and Chairman of the Assembly Service Commission were made to swear to an oath that they had no connection with banditry in the state.
