Kaduna: EFCC arrests KASUPDA boss while in a meeting with staff

The Director General of Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA), Malam Ismail Umar Dikko has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday.

The Director General who is notable for demolition of properties and highly feared by all was picked up while holding a meeting with his staff.

Before he became the Director General of the agency in 2019, Dikko was a Special Assistant to Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

EFCC operatives’ entrance into the premises with a black Hilux Toyota vehicle initially caused panic among the staffers, particularly as they were well armed.

The source said the staff at KASUPDA had earlier tried to stop the EFCC from leaving with the DG and security at the gate had prevented the car from exiting.

The Director General instructed that they should be allowed to leave and he was immediately taken to the Kaduna zonal office of the EFCC.

A source close to the operation hinted that the Director General had severally ignored invitations handed to him by the anti-graft agency, hence, they stormed the agency’s premises unnoticed on Monday.
