President Buhari seeks confirmation of Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf as Chief Judge of FCT
President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Nigerian Senate seeking confirmation of Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf as Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory.
The letter which was dated 4th October, 2021 was read by the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege during plenary session on Tuesday.
Buhari in the letter cited section 256(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended as reasons he was requesting for the confirmation of Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf.
At Tuesday’s plenary, bills to establish a Federal College of Education, Idanre in Ondo State scaled second reading which was sponsored by Senator Ayo Akinyelure representing Ondo Central Senatorial District while a bill to amend River Basin Development Authorities Act, 2004 also scaled second reading in the Senate.
The two bills were separately referred to the Committees on Water Resources and Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, respectively, for further public hearings in accordance with legislative processes and to revert in four weeks.
