The leadership of Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF) salute the courage of President Mohammad Buhari on his recent position on the former Acting Director – General of the federal institute of industrial research, Oshodi Lagos.

It’s no longer a news that we have many Nigerians with similar cases like that of the Mr Chima Igwe who have several academic qualifications only on paper, while such never existed either in their behaviours in terms of value added capacity or in the registry department of the said institution they are claiming to be an Alumnus off.

In a statement by President of the gr9, Comrade Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem which was made available to CAPITAL POST on Tuesday in Abuja, the group charged the Independent and Corrupt Practices and Other related Offences Commission (ICPC) to rise up to the expectations of the current administration and that of President Buhari’s fight against corruption at all levels

The statement said: “How on earth will such sensitive agency of government with bogus budgetary allocation year in year out, be in existence and Mr Chima and his co travellers will be receiving salaries and other remunerations for over seventeen years and such scandal could only be directed by a petition written by some concerns group, so why are we having ICPC if they could not easily identify people of government pay role with fake academic qualifications and co?”

“The Governing Council of the institute raised series of valid fundamental observations against Mr Chima Igwe’s academic qualifications which even lead to his being deposed and was subsequently demoted by the institute Governing Board for claiming to have completed his PhD program from a road side University in Benin Republic, but to surprise of all concerned stakeholders the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology ignored the Board and retain him as the Acting Director general of the Institute against law of the institute and that of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“The Hon. Minister of Science Technology and Innovation Mr Ogbonaya Onu should be immediately sacked by Mr president, and failure to sack him for bringing such avoidable embarrassment to Nigeria among committee of nations will lead to a nation wide massive protest, where our members will picketing offices of all agencies and parastatal under his ministry nation wide, the president has only seven working days to take drastic action on him, the era when people of his calibre deliberately ignored constituted authority and bring our nation down under the current administration is over, the two minister that where relieved of their appointments recently base on low performance are far better than Mr Onu.

Going by Mr Ogbonaya Onu’s age, academic qualifications and the confidence Mr president has in him, we are shocked to have finger his hands in such a favourism deal against merit principles at the detriment of nations progress and stability.
