Anambra Police announces arrest of suspected killers of Akunyili, on trails of those who set Igbokwe’s house ablaze
The Anambra State Police Command said, two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili and are currently being detained.
Dr. Akunyili is the husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili , the former Director General of National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Akunyili, a medical doctor was gruesomely murdered alongside others after he attended a function in honour of his late wife, Dora.
Police have also stated that they are on the trail of those who set Joe Igbokwe’s house ablaze in Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State
Two persons who were killed include
a third-year Medical Laboratory student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
There haven’t been official statement from the Police, but a source close to the Police Command confirmed that progress was being made in connection to the arrest of arsonists.
The source said four persons were initially arrested, but two were released after interrogation.
“Anambra command will not rest until those behind these attacks, killings and arsons are exposed,” the source said
Olofu and some senior officers have visited the scene of recent attacks in the state including the DSS Office in Nnewi and the residences of Igbokwe and Okongwu.
