Panic in Imo as IPOB enforces sit-at-home orders, chases school children away

Residents in Owerri, Imo State capital on Monday were in panic mood as gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) forcefully enforced sit-at-home directive.

Brandishing sophisticated weapons, the IPOB sent residents who have resumed offices before and after 8.00am back home.

It was gathered that Residents who were turned back left for their various homes out of fear as security agents were also not seen challenging the gun wielding IPOB members.

CAPITAL POST gathered further that
from Ukwu-orji to Ogbaku, Orogwe in Mbaitoli and Owerri west Local Government Area of the State respectively IPOB members gunmen invaded some schools in the area and forced school children to close earlier than normal.

Parents were also in panic mood as they were seen hurriedly picking their children
from various schools as at 9 am while those who could not wait for their parents to come ran away for their dear lives.

At Orogwe/Ndegwu road, two vehicles reportedly ran into each other while hurrying to pick their children from school.

This online was told that a bus driver from Ndegwu part of Owerri was over speeding to pick his children from school before ramming into an upcoming vehicle and caused a fatal accident, but both drivers came out unhurt.

In Owerri centre, no sooner than shops owners began to close down, including Banks and some Government offices, filling stations, schools for fear of attack by some hoodlums who it was reported have earlier sent threat messages.

At Ehiogugu, Mbaise and Naze in Owerri north Local Government Area,shootings by the gunmen were said to have scared residents of the place to return back to their homes.

Some of the tertiary institutions in the State also hurriedly shutdown amidst the pandemonium caused by the gunmen.
