Anambra killings: South East group calls for arrest of APC governorship candidate, Andy Uba

A group operating under the aegis of Southeast Movement for Democracy has fingered Senator Andy Uba, the All Progressives the (APC) governorship candidate as responsible for deadly killings going on in Anambra State.

Condemning the killings, the group said it’s politically motivated and it’s orchestrated by Senator Andy Uba and the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma who are hell-bent on taking over the State at all cost.

In a statement which was signed by the National Chairman of the group, Johnson Okeke (Ochiwar), Anambra State Chairman, Onwuka Akalia Sunday and all States Chairmen from the South East said the two politicians should be held for murderous activities in Anambra State.

The statement which was obtained by CAPITAL POST on Sunday in Abuja read:
“The leadership of Southeast Movement for Democracy (SMD) condemns in strong terms the politically motivated killings in Anambra State by Andy Ubah and Hope Uzodimma in their quest to intimidate the citizens of the state so as to take over power in Anambra State by force.

The has issued a one week ultimatum to arrest Andy Uba, saying he was the one sponsoring killings in the State.

“On this note, we hereby give the Federal Government of Nigeria one week to arrest and prosecute Andy Ubah and his murderers recruited from Imo and Ebonyi States who are on a killing rampage in Anambra State.

“The first time Andy Ubah wanted to announce his arrival as a big boy in Anambra State politics, he used federal might to kidnap Dr. Chris Ngige who was then a sitting governor, destroyed all state owned properties of Anambra State and subsequently rigged an election by awarding over one million votes to himself. He was however disgraced and booted out of office as a two weeks governor by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“This time around, he has with the help of his fellow killer in Imo State armed and unleashed terror and murderers on the innocent citizens of Anambra State because he wants to be governor by all means.

“Andy Ubah in the last weeks murdered fellow anambra men in cold blood among them was Dr. Cyril Akunyili, one of the finest doctors in the world.

“Andy Ubah wants to creates a deadly situation that will scare citizens of the state from coming out to vote on November 6th governorship election so he can rig the election.

“Everyone knows that Andy Ubah and his party are not on ground and cannot will a single Ward in the state.

“He is an outcast as far as Anambra State politics is concerned hence this blood letting to instill fear into voters to cause voter’s aparthy on the election day.

“We call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police and all Nigerian security agencies to immediately put an end to this madness by one man whose inordinate ambition is to destroy and turn Anambra State to Afghanistan.

“We gave seven days ultimatum to the federal government of Nigeria to arrest Andy Ubah or we will commence Nationwide action against the murderer called Andy Ubah.”
