Charles ‘Ironside’ Aghogho has congratulated Nigerians on the 61st Independence Anniversary of the country and urged them to maximise the things that unite us for a greater nation.

The content creator, entrepreneur & philanthropist spoke to our correspondent from his base in Capetown, South Africa on Wednesday via a telephone chat ahead of Nigeria’s Independence Day Celebration today Friday, October 1, 2021.

Ironside reiterated his belief in the oneness and unity of the Nation and called on all Nigerians, especially those in the diaspora to “eschew rancour, sentiments, bitterness and tribalism, he called on citizens to embrace the strength of our diversity to maximize those things that unite us for a greater Nigeria.” He pleaded with political leaders, and elected government officials at all levels to be more accountable and “think of a greater Nigeria by tackling governance in the best way that will benefit the masses instead of a select few.”

He called on government to fund and administer empowerment programmes that will benefit the youths in the private sectors, traders, artisans and vulnerable groups so as to help alleviate the economic crunch being experienced in the country as a result of Covid-19 complications.

Furthermore, Charles also hinted that he intends to select 10 of his most active followers as beneficiaries of a token sum as his way of celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day.

Ironside expressed disgust with the activities of kidnappers who have resorted to abducting school children. He said their illicit activities are making people fearful of their safety and urged the federal government to deal with them to the full extent of the law. He however, acknowledged the efforts of security agencies towards securing lives and property and enjoined them to keep up the good work. He urged them “Go after all criminals, especially kidnappers no matter where they are,” noting that “a criminal is a criminal any day, anytime.”
