2023: Ortom’s CPS, Akase resigns to contest governorship
Ahead of 2023 general election, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive governor of Benue State, Mr Terver Akase has resigned, saying he will contest for governorship.
Akase who has worked as CPS to governor Samuel Orton in the last six years gave this revelation while speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Makurdi after he tendered his resignation in writing.
He told newsmen that he would strengthen the state’s grazing law in order to further guarantee internal security in the state if elected Governor in 2023.
Akase said he submitted his resignation letter at about 9.00am while he was accompanied by his wife and his best man to witness his action.
He expressed optimism that he will win the governorship election in 2023, a situation he said, he has to tender his resignation so that he could concentrate on his governorship ambition.
“We know our challenges and the solutions that can be proffered. We will look at security. Security of the state will be non negotiable. We will do everything possible to protect our laws.
“We will strengthen the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law and even make it stiffer because our people deserve to live. We will do everything to guarantee internal security and the security of our borders.
He believed that a lot of experience has been gathered by him to govern Benue people having been part of the government of Benue State in the last six years.
According to him, Benue is an agrarian State which is understood to him, hence, he would give priority attention to agriculture, job creation, infrastructure, education, health among others, noting that his administration would ensure that farming would be taken to a higher level.
“We will mechanize our farms and give incentives to our farmers. We will improve on what this Government has done,” he said.
