Late Dora Akunyili’s husband assassinated

The husband of the late Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Dora Akunyili has been assassinated by unknown gunmen on Tuesday

Dr. Chike Akunyili was murdered at Umuoji in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State in the evening of Tuesday, according to a source.

There have been series of killings in Anambra State since political activities hots up ahead of November 6 governorship election.

Family source hinted that the late Dr. Chike attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) where his late wife was honoured before he was killed.

The source lamented the spate of killings in Anambra and prayed for God’s intervention and to render evil men me useless.

He said: “I was with this man yesterday same yesterday at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha. It was an occasion of University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Onitsha branch event where they honoured late Dora Akunyili.

According to him the deceased made a donation of N500,000 to the Alumni Association as part of his own contribution to the development of UNN.

“He was there with his son, Obum now working with Anambra state government.

“We saw them off to the car and it was emotional when Obum hugged him tight as both of them separated to join their respective vehicles.
