Boko Haram retaliates, kills dozens of ISWAP fighters at Lake Chad
Boko Haram terrorists reportedly launched brutal attacks against fighters of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) for the killing of its top Commander, Ameer Abubakar Dogo Daawa at the Lake Chad axis few days ago.
Both terrorists, who are dreaded in their activities have been having supremacy battle that continues to claim the lives of their leaders.
While the ISWAP perches in the Lake Chad basin, the Boko Haram fighters are occupying the Sambisa forest, but have been at loggerheads with frequent casualties each time there was crisis among the warring group.
This time, ISWAP combatants was led by one of its Commander, Modou Bashir Okocha and killed one of the Boko Haram Commander who was loyal to the late Abubakar Shekau in an ambush operation.
The Boko Haram fighters who are now led by Bacoura Buduma were provoked by the killing of one of their Commanders carried out a major retaliatory operation against ISWAP.
Source close to both camps said, there was serious casualties on the side of ISWAP in the Lake Chad basin.
There seems to be a resurgence on the side of Boko Haram fighters after the death of Abubakar Shekau with appointment of Fiya Bakoura Salaba and Bakoura Doro as new Commanders at Toumboun Gajimi.
The Bacoura led Boko Haram is gradually gaining ground as they reportedly led a large number of their fighters to the Lake Chad axis to encounter ISWAP in revenge.
The source said: The Boko Haram fighters congregated with their Commanders, Amirs and Khaid (Chiefs) in Lelewa, Duwa, Wallal and Hauwa Bulumwa villages in the axis of Niger Republic before attacking ISWAP major camps.
“The Boko Haram militants launched the attack from Kaduna Ruwa and Kaiga, where it massively eliminated ISWAP terrorists in a silent Operation and seized many of their arms and ammunition.
“At about 1900 hours, it dislodged and dominated Tumbun Ali, Kaduna Ruwa, Mardas and Kahuram, all major camps of ISWAP, killing large scores of high-valued fighters, commanders and their bodyguards, while many others were seriously injured,” said the source.
He added that the Boko Haram fighters were currently battling with the ISWAP elements at Kirta, and Wulgo communities in Marte Local Government of Borno State.
