Housewife supplying cigarettes to bandits in Zamfara forest arrested
Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a housewife in her thirties who supplies cigarettes and dangerous substances to armed bandits living in Zamfara forests.
Parading the suspect in Gusau on Thursday, the State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana revealed that the woman was arrested through intelligence reports.
The CP said security operatives were unrelenting in their onslaught against bandits, terrorists and their collaborators.
He lamented attack on citizens by bandits in northern parts of Nigeria, saying that killings, kidnappings and hostage taking has heightened vigilance in northern States.
The Commissioner of Police further disclosed the name of the suspect to be Rakiya Ibrahim who he said was arrested through credible intelligence in a villager around Bungudu Local Government Council on Sunday, 19th September, 2021.
She was nabbed with her large quantities of cigarette packs and other substances which were to be taken to bandits in the forest.
“The suspect further indicted one Suraju as her dealer who sells the products to her. Suraju has been arrested by the police and both suspects are in police custody for discreet investigation before being charged to court for prosecution”, the Commissioner of Police said
