Ex-CBN Deputy governor dies at 64
An ex-Deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Obadiah Mailafia is dead.
He died in the night at the age of 64 after a brief illness, according to sources from his family.
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University with BSc in Economics and Sociology, late Obadiah hailed from Sanga Local Government where in Kaduna South Senatorial district.
He subsequently won a French Government Scholarship to France, where he earned a Certificate in French Language and Civilisation from the University of Clermont-Ferrand in 1985.
The former deputy governor, who was the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2019 election, was a known government critic and had advocated public sector and exchange rate reforms.
