2023: Fani-Kayode defects to APC

The controversial politician and former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has formally joined the ruling All Progressives Congress after dangling around the party stalwarts for months.

Fani-Kayode who has been speculated of joining the APC for past months on Thursday led to the Villa by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of APC, Mai Mala Buni, where he was formally introduced to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He has been recently fraternizing with APC stalwarts and demonising his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid speculations that he was planning to defect.

Fani-Kayode has severally met with Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and has praised Bello for being a good governor.

Meanwhile, Fani-Kayode said, he was led by the Spirit of God in his decision and that he joined the APC to help the unity of the country.

Revealing how he advised three serving governors who were serving on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party to defect to APC which they did, he added that he was against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria.

The governors he mentioned were Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Bello Matawale of Zamfara State.

He further said that he has friends across party lines and was wooing the governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed to join the ruling party.

There hasn’t been official statement from the APC over his defection yet, but his defection was coming few days after the Local Government Congresses took place.
