Amotekun rescues abducted Lagos bound passengers in less than 24 hours
Ondo State local security oufit, Amotekun have rescued nine out of twelve Lagos bound passengers who were abducted in Ondo State on Wednesday.
Amotekun is a local security outfit in the South West part of the country and they are a product of measures to counter the menace of kidnapping and banditry activities by Fulani herdsmen.
The kidnapped victims were heading from Abuja to Lagos in an 18-seater bus when they were intercepted and abducted in Ondo
between Idoani Ifira axis of the state.
The vehicle plying on the Idoani road would have to mellow down due to bad road in Akoko Southeast Local Government Area of the state, thereby made motorists vulnerable to attack by criminal elements.
Commander of Amotekun in the State, Chief Adetunji Adeleye who personally spoke with some journalists on Thursday in Ondo confirmed that his men responded to distress calls and swung into action immediately.
“Our men responded to the gunshots and a distress call. They got there on time and were able to rescue nine of them. They took them to our office in Isua and released them after giving them necessary attention.”
He added that the reached victims have been hamdes over to the Police including the driver of the bus.
He vowed that kidnappers would be chased to their den as the operatives are currently on their trail.
