Drug addict son allegedly killed his 70 years old father in Kogi
Muhammed Yusuf, 21 years who is a drug addict has alledgedly killed his father of about 70 years in Lokoja, capital of Kogi State.
He repeatedly beat his father until he passed out in an incident that happened directly behind St Mary Primary School, Lokoja on Wednesday evening.
Some journalists in Lokoja began investigation following rumours of the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf and the circumstances that surrounded his death, late Wednesday.
CAPITAL POST learnt that the late father had insisted that his son, a Secondary school leaver furthering his education without success as he was given to drugs and living on psychotropic substances.
A resident who was conversant with the happenings in the late Alhaji Muhammed Yusuf’s compound told journalists that she advised the late father to get soldiers from barracks to tame the boy who has become very wild since Tuesday.
“I am their neighbor. The boy has been misbehaving since yesterday morning in which I told the father that we should go to barrack and carry soldiers so that we can pick him up.
”I left for work around 4PM yesterday and am supposed to close by 12am, but I closed by 10 pm. When I came in, I was knocking the gate, but nobody opened it. When I came in with my key inside, I said Baba please open the door for me but the boy replied that Baba is not around.
”I asked him, where has baba been to? And I know that Baba does not go out when it is six o’clock. He always lock his door. When I came in, I saw him in Baba room, and Baba don’t normally allow him to enter his room. Immediately I called my fiancee, telling him that this boy has killed his father because what is he doing in Baba’s room and baba is not around.
“Then he called Baba’s number but the number was switched off. I now went to the Police station, and we came with SARS to arrest him.
“When we entered the room Baba was in a pool of blood still breathing, that was how we rushed him to the hospital. This morning, we heard the news that baba is dead.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Williams Aya confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday.
The police having taken the boy into custody said they were investigating the matter and would get back to journalists with details.
