Minna NBA promises harmonious working relationship with Police command
The Minna Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), will continue to partner with the Niger State Police command in ensuring speedy administration of criminal Justice, the chairman of the association Barrister Mohammed Abubakar El-Surur has assured.
He said the NBA Minna branch has been enjoying a cordial working relationship in previous leadership of the command and the branch under his leadership will continue to maintain the relationship.
Barrister Abubakar El-surur gave the assurance when he led members of the branch on a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of police in the State Mr Monday Bala Kuryas in his office at the command headquarters in Minna.
He explained that the NBA in Minna will continue to synergize with the State Police command in further building on already established relationship towards ensuring smooth dispensation of Justice, stressing that the Bar and the police are partners in progress.
According to the NBA chairman, the Backar has heard that you are a versatile and experience police officer that has served in many states, “which informed our visit to your office to formally welcome you and to also inform you that the NBA and the command have an outstanding cordial working relationship and we want to continue with that under your leadership”
He told the Commissioner of Police to draw the attention of the Bar whenever there is any professional misconduct among lawyers that will drag the name of the association to the mud for prompt action, which according to him the NBA will treat the matter in- house “and if it involve criminality then we will handle him for prosecution.
So that he will not drag the name of the association in the mud.”
Receiving the members of the bar, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas commended the NBA executive for the visit assuring them of his support in ensuring the speedy administration of criminal Justice.
He noted that in most of the States he had served he had enjoyed a smooth and cordial working synergy with both the Bar and Bench stating that as critical stakeholders in the administration of Justice his working relationship with the Bar would not be compromised.
He explained that the Police and members of the Bar have no reason not to partner in ensuring administration of justice adding, police as a law enforcement agency need a harmonious synergy with the Bar to achieve the needed objective of criminal Justice system in the country.
The Commissioner of Police advised members of the association to always be security and safety conscious while on transit in the discharge of their duty as a result of the security challenges bedeviling the state.
“As people who are always on the road traveling up to New Bussa up to Kontagora in the course of appearing in courts
