Bandits in reprisal attack kill 20 in Niger State
Hell was let loosed on Friday night in Magami community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State as armed bandits on reprisal mission wrecked and killed not less than 20 residents.
The attack forced some villagers to flee to neighboring communities while others went missing as at the time of filing this report.
CAPITAL POST earlier reported that Local hunters and the Special Security Task Force, comprising the Police, Local Hunters and Vigilante, carried onslaught against bandits that have festered in riverside in Magami community that led to killing of 40 of the criminal elements.
The operation led to recovery of 16 motorcycles, AK47 rifles and ammunition.
Reacting, Spokesman for youths group in Shiroro LG, Mallam Yusuf Abubakar Kukoki confirmed the attack.
He said bandits came in their large numbers on Friday night to unleash terror.
Kukoki explained that bandits waited to make sure that security operatives returned back to their base before they came to launch attacks in Magami in retaliation of casualties inflicted on them.
Explaining further, he said, bandits were shooting at sight, which unfortunately led to killing of unarmed residents.
“Six people were confirmed dead at Unguwan Magiro under Madaka Ward, Rafi local government area, four people at Farin Hula and five people at Magami and environs all under Manta Ward of Shiroro local government while scores of others are still missing – probably killed too” Kukoki said.
Speaking on the whereabouts of some villagers, he said some fled to Kuta, and other adjoining villages.
