Fresh tension grips Plateau State on Saturday as Boko Haram terrorists have written a letter threatening abduction of the University of Jos students.

The letter which was yet to be confirmed by any authorised security body, though undated was written on Boko Haram’s letterhead in Hausa language.

Change of Name

The letter was randomly dropped at some strategic places in Jos metropolitan and in the UNIJOS vicinity warning of imminent mass abduction of students anytime.

Boko Haram stressed that they have been quiet all these while, adding that they are now now ready to strike at the institution, while they claimed responsibility for last Monday’s attack.

The terrorists who have been fighting in North East Nigeria in the last twelve years said in the letter that they have been in Jos for some time for purposes of planning abduction of students.

They insisted on mass abduction of students from the school that would make many families weep.

“We are coming already and we’ll take many people away, many. From today Saturday night you will begin to understand what is happening.”

When CAPITAL POST contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of Plateau State Command, he said the UNIJOS management was yet to lodge a formal complaint, hence, the Police can’t claim knowledge of bandits letter for now.

Speaking on phone with the paper on Saturday, he said: “You should ask the University of Jos management of they have informed the Plateau State Police Command.

‘If they haven’t, it means we have no knowledge of the letter and there is nothing we can do at this time”, the PPRO said.

Boko Haram terrorists who were previously led by the late Abubakar Shekau are known for carrying out their threats.
