Insecurity: KADSIECOM suspends election in 4 LGAs in Kaduna
Following insecurity pervading Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) said the Local Government election would not hold in four Local Government Areas.
The suspension of election followed a damning security reports that if the KADSIECOM goes ahead with LGAs election in those areas, there would be crisis.
The Local Governments are: Kajuru, Birnin Gwari, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local government areas in Southern Kaduna Senatorial district.
Chairman of the State electoral umpire, Dr Saratu Dikko-Audu said the suspension of election in those areas would avert shedding of blood and protect lives and property.
“The election in these local government areas will now hold on Saturday 25th September 2021.
“It is our belief that the security operatives would be able to fully deploy to these local government areas for election on the stated date in order to prevent any breakdown of law and order as well as loss of lives and property.”
She called on politicians and residents of the state to conduct themselves in a manner that would ensure a peaceful election.
She assured that the Commission was committed to conducting a free, fair and credible election.
