Tragedy struck in the early hours on Monday as a lecturer and three students of Confluence
University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara in the Central Senatorial were abducted while coming from a night vigil.

One of the abducted student was identified as Jummai while others were males who were returning from Living Faith Church’s night vigil, according to eye witness account.

The abductors reportedly emerged from the bush fully armed at Abuja-Lokoja-Okene road junction, ceased them and forcefully dragged them into the bush.

A resident who spoke under anonymity lamented that there have been incessant kidnapping and robbery incidences along the road, while he recounted that Monday’s abduction would be about the twelve in this year alone.

He warned those travelling in the night to be careful, saying it’s more dangerous at night along the road.

“This year alone this should be about the twelve times that there are cases of armed robberies and kidnappings.”

According to him, residents in the affected areas are living in fears while he stressed that the State government and security agents should work hard to arrest the ugly situation.

One of the principal staff of the new institution who does not want to be mentioned also confirmed the incident and said the university community has been thrown into panic as a result of the incident.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Willy Aya said he was yet to be briefed about the incident and promised to contact our correspondent later.

The Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara was established in 2020 and the students kidnapped are one of the pioneer students.

Meanwhile, the new State Commissioner of Police in Kogi State has since assumed duty.
