2023: Pro-Osinbajo lobbyists visit Katsina, says outing, a successful one
Ahead of 2023 general election, a political lobbyists, Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) has described its visit to Katsina over the weekend as warmly, saying they met top political leaders where issues of Presidential ticket was discussed.
National Chairman of PCG, Dr Aliyu Rabiu Kurfi and the National Secretary, Dr Eli Eberechukwu Dibia while briefing journalists in Abuja on Sunday said they were out to advocate for Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presidency in 2023.
They said their visit to Katsina State afforded the to have a strategic meeting with the Governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, the Emir of Daura Emirate, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk and other top APC members from all the 34 local government areas in Katsina State.
According to them, the group which operates within the fold of APC chose Katsina to commence its nationwide advocacy and mobilisation because its the birthplace of President Muhammadu Buhari.
They expressed optimism that their outing would yield positive results, given that there was need for the Vice President to succeed President Buhari in 2023 for sustainability of government’s vision for the nation.
The group noted that Katsina governor’s advice for them to redirect effort towards further strengthening the APC support base nationwide was seen by them as wisdom of a man who has many years of political experience, stating that they wouldn’t ignore it.
“Governor Masari personally received us, noted that our efforts are timely and advised that we also apply our energies and capacity towards further strengthening the APC’s support base nationwide.
Our Royal father, the Emir of Daura also heard our genuinely patriotic reasons for making Professor Yemi Osinbajo our preference for leadership of Nigeria and while he is not a politician, he notes the excellent working relationship between both President Buhari and the VP, Professor Osinbajo.
“We assure all true Progressives and members of the APC in Nigeria and abroad that at the Government House, at the Palace and our strategic meetings with various stakeholders drawn from all the local government areas of Katsina state, our concerns for stability, unity, peace and progress of Nigeria profoundly resonates,” Kurfi stated.
“Therefore, we went before Governor Masari, the Emir of Daura and other stakeholders in Katsina state, to seek for support, wise counsel and advice towards accelerating the possibilities of collective success,” he stated.
Members of the PCG National delegation that visited Katsina during the weekend include Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Rabiu Kurfi (National Chairman), Dr. Eli Eberechukwu Dibia (National Secretary), Zonal Co- ordinators from the nation’s sis geo-political zones and about forty others representing PCG in various state and local government positions in both Katsina and neighbouring Kano states.
