North, biggest casualty of Buhari’s failure – Baba-Ahmed
The Northern Elders’ Forum said the Northern part of the country was the biggest casualty of President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure and the zone has paid for the price, adding that neither the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) nor the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could salvage the nation.
Spokesman for the group, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed gave the outburst on Wednesday in Lagos at a 2nd dialogue organised by an online newspaper, Ripples Nigeria.
The theme of the dialogue was tittled: “Rebuilding trust in a divided Nigeria: Advancing the conversation”, where some eminent who were featured dissected the security and social challenges of the country.
In his address, Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa said Nigeria was passing through a precarious situation while he expressed concern that the situation was widening the nation’s division day by day.
Okowa insisted on the unity of the country, saying at that, Nigeria would be stronger and better with a visionary leader.
“As 2023 approaches, leadership is key and the focus should be on electing a pan Nigerian as President; a person with the capacity and charisma to cast a vision for Nigeria and rally all Nigerians behind it.
According to him, what Nigeria need at this time was a broadminde and selfless leader who has capacity to instil confidence in Nigerians.
The governor lamented the endless crises as well as labour agitations which he said has placed a wedge between the citizenry and the leadership.”
Okowa recalled how Nigerians were living in brotherhood despite their religious and tribal differences.
