Breaking: Nigeria loses two former first ladies, 24 hours apart each other

Two of Nigeria’s former first ladies, Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi and Adanma Okpara are dead.

Victoria is the wife of the first Military Head of State, Late Gen. Thompson Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi, while Lady Adanma was the widow of Premier of the defunct Eastern region, Dr. Michael Okpara.

Both died 24 hours apart each other as Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi died on Monday morning, while Adanma Okpara died in the early hours of Sunday.

Mrs Aguiyi Ironsi died at the age of 98 and reports by the family said she died of age related complications.

The two former first ladies hailed from Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State in the South West Nigeria.
