APC Caretaker Committee not completing Oshiomhole’s tenure – Patrick Obahiagbon

Former Member, House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Patrick Obahiagbon has refuted claims in some quarters stating that the Caretaker/Extraordinary Planning Commitee (CECPC) led by Governor Mai Mala Buni is bent on completing former National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s tenure.

Oshiomhole who’s tenure is to expire June 2022, lost his seat as the party’s national chairman June 16 last year after a court of appeal judgment ratified the verdict of an Abuja High Court that affirmed his suspension by his ward in Edo State.

The National executive committee (NEC) however dissolved the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC), giving way for the Buni led caretaker committee constituted June 28 last year to pilot the affairs of the party.

The party NEC has twice approved the extension of the tenure of the committee which was initially scheduled to terminate on 25th December 2020 and this has triggered speculations that the party is trying to elongate the tenure of the Buni led committee.

Addressing a press Friday in Abuja, Patrick Obahiagbon said “It is fake news. There is nothing like that. This CECPC is already progressing towards its National Convention and you can already see the work in progress.

“I want to say to you that the two administrations came into the life of our party at different times and in different circumstances so there will be no basis at all for me to begin to draw comparison” he added.

On the achievements of the CECPC, the former lawmaker said the committee recorded immense successes within a shortest space of time.

He further commended the Buni led committee on their resolve to sanction members who go against the party constitution.

The CECPC headed by His Excellency, Hon Mai Mala Buni, and trusted with the leadership of the party was saddled with specific responsibilities that are individually and collectively critical to the growth, development, and continued national relevance of the party. Among the achievements are:

“The planning and conduct of a nationwide APC Membership Registration/Revalidation Exercise.

“Reconciliation of all the lingering disputes amongst members within the party, among others.

“Conduct of Congresses at the Ward, LGA, and State Levels, which is currently ongoing.

“Constitutional Amendment for the party.

“National Convention which is work in progress.

“And as well as the daily running of the official affairs of the party.

“I can magisterially pontificate that the CECPC has coruscatingly, cerebrally and sapientially discharged its responsibilities to our great party and Nigerian’s. It’s time for political chichidodo’s within and without to halt their “mandibular walkabout” and put the political genie back inside the bottle” He added
