1,000 police deployed to protect Olu of Warri’s coronation ceremony on Saturday

A total number of 1,000 policemen have been deployed by the Delta State Police Command ahead of Omoba Taola Emiko’s coronation ceremony on Saturday.

Omoba Tsola Emiko will be coronated as the 21st Olu of Warri.

Among the security provided for Saturday’s event was drafting of anti-bombs squad to ensure security’s of lives and properties.

The ceremony which is taking place at Ode-Itsekiri, Warri South Council area of Delta state, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, said, it’s a proactive step to curtail crime during and after the ceremony.

In a statement by the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, a Deputy Superintendent iof Police (DSP), the CP advised criminals to distance themselves from the venue.

It reads: “Two bomb squads has been deployed to report 48 hours before the coronation day to sweep the venue and ensure it is completely rendered safe, two units of Mobile Police personnel and conventional police officers which include traffic personnel have been deployed.

“The CP warns mischief makers to steer clear as the command is more than ready to deal decisively with anybody who try to disrupt or cause any form of mischief during the coronation.

“All that needs to be done to ensure that the event is itch free and devoid of any form of violence has been put in place.

“To this end, the CP has directed the Area Commander Warri, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Operations Officers of the Command to leave no stone unturned towards ensuring thorough supervision of personnel deployed for the actualisation of peace and tranquility during and after the coronation ceremony.
