Ortom hints on evacuating Benue students in Jos amid insecurity
Amid killings rocking Plateau State, Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom on Wednesday said students of Benue origin studying in Jos would be evacuated if there was need.
Ortom disclosed this at a press briefing in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
Plateau has been rocked in deeper crisis since Saturday when some travellers were attacked at Rukuba area of Jos.
The attackers were yet to be identified even as they have been accusations and counter accusations from different quarters.
To stem the tide of attack on its students, the management of the University of Jos on Monday called off the ongoing examinations until further notice.
While fielding questions at the briefing Ortom stressed that events in Jos were being monitored by his administration, adding that if there was need, Benue students would be evacuated.
CAPITAL POST earlier reported that governor Simon Lalong declared curfew starting from 6pm to 6am as a result of insecurity in the State.
