The federal government has been urged to put an end to the recurring killing of innocent Nigerians and other travelers by misguided persons along the Rukuba-Ryom road in Jos, Plateau State.
The Catholic Arch-Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah has also been tasked to speak now against the wanton killings happening in the State.
Twenty-five people were on Saturday killed and 14 others injured during an attack on travelers in Gada-Biyu, in the northern part of Plateau State.
The coordinated attack was reportedly carried out by a group of youth on a convoy of five buses travelling from Bauchi State to Ikare in Ondo State.
Reacting to the incident, All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Garus Gololo, condemned what he described “as the lacklustre attitude of Plateau leaders to the irresponsible acts by youths in the affected areas.”
Recalling that “same youths were behind the murder of General Idris Alkali and former Garrison Commander, Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, late Col. Mohammed Mubarak; the APC leader lamented the silence of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Bishop Kukah on the incidents.
According to him, “the vocal Clergy (Kukah) who has made criticizing the federal government a franchise has suddenly lost his voice on the slaughter of defenseless and innocent travelers by his kins men.
Like a typical hypocrite, he sees nothing wrong in the recurring, unjustified murder of unsuspecting road users by unbridled, jobless, godless and unsound Birom/Ryon youths; on the ground of religion.
Gololo insisted that all hands must be on deck to stop the carnage and prevent reprisals.
This is as he urged the Sokoto Bishop and opinion leaders in Plateau State to immediately convene a stakeholders meeting aimed at putting an end to the recurring dastardly acts.
