Kidnappers’ arms supplier arrested in Kogi
Kogi State Police Command has announced that a suspected arms supplier has been arrested.
The Command said a kidnapper was as also nabbed.
Items recovered from the suspect who the Police said is a gun runner who supply arms to kidnappers include 2 AK-47, Bareta pistol and 41 rounds of ammunition.
In a press release signed by the command public relations officer DSP William Aya and made available on Friday in Lokoja, said its operatives attached to Anyigba Area Command while on a stop and search operation along Idah-Anyigba road arrested one Mohammed Bako with a bag suspected to contain prohibited item in it
He said the suspect, Muhammed Bako , who hails from Kotonkarfe area of the state was arrested on Thursday in a commercial vehicle with two 2 AK-47 rifles, 41 rounds of ammunition, and one locally made Baretta Pistol, 6.7 MM ammunition hidden in a sack.
According to Aya the suspect has confessed to ownership of the arms and ammunition , Stressing that investigation is being intensified.
He said the suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.
He therefore assured members of the public of the determination of the Command to work in synergy with other security agencies in the State to ensure adequate security of lives and property.
