FCT Minister reiterates commitment to Nurses welfare, commend them for COVID-19 battle

The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has commended nurses risking their lives in battle against COVID-19, saying their role was heroic.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Minister, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye on Thursday in Abuja, he said the Minister applauded effort of Nurses for their sacrifice not only in FCT, but throughout the federation.

The Nurses on Thursday held their annual Nurses Week/Scientific workshop, which the Minister had cause to pour encomium, whilw hemrecalled that some of rjwm paid the supreme in the cause of tackling the dreaded global pandemic.

Bello said, the FCT administration is committed to Nurses welfare given that their services were purely humanitarian.

He enjoined Nurses in FCT in show commitment in saving Libes and auppoetr the administration in health service delivery.

He said: “Your sacrifices and indeed, those of all frontline health workers have ensured that we are not overwhelmed by this disease and for this, we will remain eternally grateful”.

“As we once more confront COVID-19 and an old enemy, cholera, you are once again called into the trenches to offer your service of caring for the afflicted with dedication and compassion for which you are known. We are confident that we can, as usual, count on you to give your best – at your duty posts- in our quest of saving lives in these challenging times” Malam Bello added.

According to him, the FCT administration would not relent in training and retraining of Nurses to enable them deliver the best of their services.

The Minister vowed to provide facilities and improve on the existing ones for a better services adding that the administration was open to suggestions and ideas that would build a healthcare system that is caring, functional and efficient here in the FCT “.
