One, Pastor Eli Dili of Lutheran Church of Christ (LCCN), Majamiyar Ceto Jeka da fari has been sent to Yola prison by the Magistrate Court 1 for failing to pay the sum of N518,000.00 (Five Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Naira) being accommodation he owed a hotel.
He alledgedly left his hotel residence without offsetting his outstanding balance of N518,000, contrary to section 312 of the State penal code.
Pastor Dilli was being prosecuted before Chief Magistrate Court I Jimeta and he appeared before the Magiatrate on Tuesday.
He claimed to have been at the hotel for five (5) months and eleven (11) days, paying N100,000 out of a total bill of N618, 000 for the time he was there.
Valid information available to the court and read on the flow says, the defendant checked into the hotel on November 6th, 2018, and continued to keep the apartment until April 17th, 2019, when he only paid N100,000, leaving a balance of N518, 000.
After he entered a not guilty plea, the prosecutor, Sergent Sawe Nicholas, requested that the case be adjourned so that he could summon witnesses to prove his case against him.
While ruling on the application, Chief Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro adjourned the case until August 16, 2021, and ordered that the pastor be remanded in prison custody until then.
