Fulani herders killings: Plateau Senator presented with dead bodies while assessing level of destruction [photo]

Following the deadly attacks and dislodgedment of some communities in Plateau, Senator representing Plateau North and Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Sen. Instifanus Gyang has visited the Commander Operation Safe Haven, Commissioner of Police Plateau State Edward C. Egbuka, the Brra Nggwe Rigwe and an on the spot assessment of destructions meted on Jebbu Miango where lives and livelihoods were wasted by the attackers.

The visibly burdened Senator lamented the inability of government through the Security agencies to secure host communites in Plateau North from deadly attacks and displacement.

He tasked the OPSH Commander and the Commissioner of Police on the need to be decisive and dispassionate in enforcing the law otherwise the attacks will persist.

The Security heads in their separate remarks assured the Senator of redoubling their efforts in arresting the ugly attacks.

At the palace of the Brra Nggwe Rigwe HRH Rev. Ronku Aka, Senator Gyang lamented on the tragic loss to lives, livelihood and habitat which host communities including the Irigwe nation are subjected to from prolong and repeated attacks from killer herdsmen.

“What do you do when the very lives of the people you represent are endangered on daily basis? What do you do when a peace loving people are targeted for alienation?” These were some expressions of frustration by the Senator.


The Brra Nggwe Rigwe, HRH Rev. Ronku Aka in his response, appreciated the Senator for visiting Rigwe land. The royal father said he keeps track of Senator Gyang’s representation as being outspoken and courageous in voicing out the concerns of the people he represents. He lamented how his people have been deserted by government and pleaded for security to be reinforced to avoid the annihilation of Rigwe nation.


While inspecting the destruction meted on Jebbu Miango, bodies of two women killed in the neighbourhood were brought before the Senator to further compound his helplessness and that of the people he represents.
