Okorocha to build Islamic University in Daura
Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district and former governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha said, he would build an Islamic University in Daura Katsina State, Northwest, Nigeria.
Daura is the hometown of the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The Imo born politician and business mogul said the Islamic citadel would be built through
Rochas Foundation.
Okorocha who was recently conferred with the traditional title of Maga Alherin Kasar Hausa by the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk said he would bequeath a long lasting legacy in Katsina in order to reciprocate the honour done to him by the Emir.
Okorocha gave the revelation through his representative, Alhaji Isa Halidu, at an event on Saturday, added that students of the University would enjoy free tuition and accommodation.
“Because the Emir of Daura made me a traditional titleholder, I am going to give a gift, perhaps, that would never be forgotten. I will build an Islamic university with modern facilities under Rochas Okorocha Foundation and to be commissioned by myself in Daura town,” he said.
The Imo lawmaker who is in the upper legislative Chamber expressed delight for the honour done to him by the emirate.
Okorocha noted that his Foundation has built schools and undertaken many developmental projects in other states, hence, he is paying back Daura town for what President Buhari had done for Nigeria.
Okorocha is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress and he in the 9th Senate as a first timer.
