Security: Niger Special Vigilante Commandant reiterates commitment to rid State of criminal elements

The Commandant, Niger Special Vigilante Corps, Mallam Mohammed Nasir Manta, has assured the Commissioner for local Government Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkindaji for his effort in bringing all the vigilante group together in the maintenance of peace in Minna.

He said the effort of the Commissioner has brought all the vigilante Corps together towards ensuring peace and security in the State assuring that the Special Vigilante Corps under his leadership will continue to partner with his ministry in the maintenance of peace and security in the State.

Speaking in an interview with CAPITAL POST in Minna, the Commandant noted with satisfaction the support of the Commissioner for the Special Vigilante Corps in the discharge of her duty assured that the Corps will continue to reciprocate in involving critical stakeholders in the State to ensure crime free Niger State at all times.

According to the Commandant, the hitch-free Eid-kabir celebration recently in the state that hitherto characterise with youth restiveness in some areas of Minna and its environs was as a result of the proactive measures put in place by his men, adding that the Special Vigilante Corps in the State would continue to make Minna uninhabitable for undisirable elements in the State.

He warned that the Special Vigilante Corps in the State would not condone any act of lawlessness from any quarters, stressing the needs for youths in Minna and its environs to engage themselves in a meangful ventures that would better their lives rather than such act that would have negative impact on them in future.

He pledged his unalloyed partnership with the relevant security agencies in the State towards ensuring crime free Niger state at all times, noting that the SVC as a grassroots oriented security outfit in the state partnering with the relevant security agencies could not be over stressed.

“We community based security outfit in the state. We are more on the grounds than other security agency in the state. It has become very important for us to synergize with them to rid Minna, and Niger State as a whole of men of questionable characters,” he assured.

Nasir Manta equally warned his men to conduct themselves in a professional manner in the discharge of their duty stating that he will not tolerate any act of overzealousness from any of his men, “any one found wanting will be made to face the full wrath of the command.”

While commending governor Abubakar Sani Bello and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse for their collective support to the Special Vigilante Corps, Manta assured them of his unflinching loyalty in the maintenance of peace and security in the State.
