Buhari’s adviser, Saraki urges NGOs, Multinational Companies to assist IPDs

Special Adviser to the Administrative Office of the President, Saraki Sulaiman has urged Non-governmental organizations and Multinational companies to provide assistance and improve the standards of living of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

Saraki made the call while speaking to Journalists at the premiere of a movie titled ‘Gobe’ in Abuja. The movie is focused on sponsoring girl education and renovation of the homes of the Internally Displaced Persons.

He explained that government alone cannot cater for the needs of the many displaced persons scattered around the country considering the numerous projects they are handling.

Saraki however appealed to corporate organizations and wealthy individuals to come to the aid of victims of attacks and displaced persons so that can live a comfortable life.

On girl child education, he said women are the bedrock of the growth of any society and if allowed to go to school, the country will thrive.

The Special Adviser who expressed concern that issues of the IDPs and Girl child education are under reported however stressed the need for more enlightenment.

“Majority of our problem in this country is simply because we have less women educated. Women are everything, they are in charge of the house and in charge on the family and if you teach a girl child, you teach multitude.

“You hardly see a gathering either private or govermantal that say anything about IDPs and girl child education is mentioned. When you look at the news paper, they will just cut one small shortlet, write little about it and that is the end.

“Presently in the north most of our parents have realized the importance of girl child education that is why the issue of early marriage has reduced drastically.

“Both the politicians and religious leaders have a big role to play because people talk less about girl child education even in churches and mosques.

“So I hope the NGOs will come out enmasse and enlighten the society and country about gril child education without which we are going nowhere.

“The religious leaders need to come out and tell people that the issue of girl education is very important to us without that we can’t go anywhere” he added.

Also Speaking, the Movie Director, Godspower Okoh explained that finance and assessibibility to rural areas were part of the chanllenges faced in the course of producing the movie.

The Executive Producer of the movie, Kauna Bawa said the essence of the movie is to raise awareness and touch the consciences of well meaning individuals to help fund vulnerable children to go to school and live life to the fullest.
