Dangote clears air on alledged burnt N700 billion at Accountant General’s office
Foremost business mogul, Aliko Dangote has explained that funds donated by good spirited Nigerians to tackle coronavirus pandemic is safe.
He said, he leads an advocacy group on COVID-19 that would ensure the use of donated funds to the advantage of Nigerians, adding that the funds was not meant to be shared as being insinuated in some quarters.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted modern society, affecting our collective health and well-being.
“As a global citizen and business leader, I took the COVID-19 test and the result came back NEGATIVE.
“CACOVID (Coalition Against COVID-19) is an initiative that I am leading with other private sector leaders, and our common goal is to support ongoing Government initiatives with our resources in the fight against Covid-19.
“We are in this together and I am optimistic we will overcome.”
“As explained above, CACOVID is a private sector initiative to support Government. They will not hand any money over to any government. Instead, they will spend the money (their money) to build, equip, and upgrade healthcare facilities in line with the needs of Federal and State Governments.
“Consequently, the federal government has given them a list of needed equipment and commodities.
Therefore, the question of asking that donations be used to provide palliative cannot arise.”
