Infrastructure: Coalition scores Sanwo-Olu high, tells him to improve on education, water

Residents of Agege and Ijaiye-Ojokoro in Lagos State, have commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on completion of inherited Agege bridge and road networks in Ijaiye-Ojokoro.

Making the commendation in a statement on Thursday, Coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (COCSO), Dr. Gabriel Nwambu, said what the Governor has done with the completion of Agege bridge and
Ijaiye-Ojokoro road networks, practically shows the gains in continuity in governance.

Change of Name

According to him, these are aside the governor’s aggressive and systematic approach to road infrastructure being delivered in many of the urban and rural communities in the state within the last two years.

He however urged the Governor to look at the area of water provisions, flooding and required drainages as well as security in the State to complement the road networks he his doing .

He said: “I want him to improve on water project. Almost every city in Nigeria is so poorly flooded with water and we need to see properly planned efforts to overcome this problem in Lagos. But he has done so well on roads and building community road infrastructure.

“He has done very well. I will give him a high pass mark. He has done things that I am proud of. He has done very well. He should improve more on the issue of security, infrastructure and water. I think those are the challenges he needs to focus on the more”.

Making similar commendation , the Coordinator of Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness and Executive Director of Lagos based Centre for Public Accountability, Olufemi Lawson,
thumbs – up the Governor on the infrastructure development saying “his commitment towards making Lagos economy bigger than he met it is very apparent” .

According to them, with completion of inherited projects across the 57 development Areas in the State, Sanwo- Olu has in practical term, shown that continuity in governance pays, regardless of who started a policy or project.

Lawson in particular said: “The Governor’s commitment towards making Lagos economy bigger than he met it is very significant. This is not appreciable to Lagosians and Nigerians alone, but also the international community.

“Being conscious of the fast growing population in the state, the administration has focused on improvements in social services such as housing, transportation and security.

“Lagos under Governor Sanwo-Olu has been able to maintain its status, as a clean city, as thousands of workers are engaged day and night in cleaning the roads and taking away the dirt through an efficient garbage collection process.

“Honestly, in as much as there are lots of works to be done, we cannot but express our happiness that things are working for the better, despite the numerous challenges”.

Lawson however tasked the governor to enlarge the coast of his performance by focusing more attention on investment in education, creation of rail networks , bus lanes and highly efficient waste collection system.
