Less than 24 hrs PDP passed vote of confidence on Ortom, opposition APC Chairman, others defects in Benue
In less than 24 hours that the Benue State chapter caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party passed a vote of confidence on the State governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was hit with the resignation of Chairman in Kwande Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state, Mr. Iorfa Dzoho.
Those who resigned with the Chairman are some of his committee members, as well as executives of the party from five council wards.
The former APC stalwarts have indicated to join Chief Mimi Adzape-Orubibi in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and would participate in open declaration at Adikpo, Kwamde LG on Saturday.
Mrs Adzape-Orubibi, a former APC member had earlier resigned to join PDP in the gale of defections rocking Benue State APC.
In what he described as a close shop, Mr. Dzoho revealed that they were infuriated by what APC did in the just concluded ward congress, hence they decided to join Mrs. Adzape-Orubibi in PDP.
According to him, they were encouraged by governor Ortom’s assurances that PDP would accommodate defectors.
CAPITAL POST on Tuesday reported that Ortom urged PDP members to open their arms to accommodate defectors and work for the unity of PDP ahead of 2021.
After a vote of confidence was passed, the governor in his address vowed to work more for the people, adding that all the gubernatorial aspirants should place the interest of the State above their personal interest.
