Breaking: EFCC reportedly detains Saraki
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reportedly arrested the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Saturday.
He was immediately detained at the EFCC facility in Abuja.
His detention was in connection
with allegations of theft and money laundering while he was governor of Kwara State for eight years.
He had been previously charged in Court over allegations of money laundering and stealing of Kwara State funds, but was set free by the Court. CAPITAL POST couldn’t verify, if Saturday’s arrest and detention of the politician was in connection with the previous allegation in which he got a clean bill of health or a fresh allegation.
Source however, said he was arrested in connection with alleged theft and laundering of public funds using a network of cronies and proxy companies but it’s unknown if there were fresh charges.
