PDP repositioning to capture power in 2023 – Ortom

The Executive governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was repositioning itself to capture power in 2023.

Steps the Peoples Democratic Party has taken, he said, was dealing with internal wranglings and reconciling their differences so that the party will be a formidable force before the general election.

The governor said the intra-party crisis of the Peoples Democratic Party cannot limit its chances of winning, noting that party crisis was unavoidable the world over, while managing the criss is sancrosanct.

Ortom stated this while fielding questions from newsmen at the Airport in Makurdi on his return from the PDP Governors’ Forum’s meeting which held on Bauchi.

He declared that PDP would remedy the economic ruins of the country perpetrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that Nigerians should keep faith with the party.

“Peoples Democratic Party is better positioned to rebuild Nigeria from the security and economic ruins visited on the country by the All Progressives Congress, APC, government.”

According to him, series of meetings were held across the country by the PDP governors to to reposition the party, insisting that if given another opportunity, PDP would take the country out of economic doldrums.

He lamented that the APC led government has failed woefully, saying that the party should give way for PDP to fix the battered nation’s economy.

Citing the incident of Bishop Matthew Kukah of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, the governor further pointed out that the Federal Government was intimidating Nigerians for being critical about President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, stressing that the intimidation should stop.

He noted that as one who has been worried about the state of affairs in the country and being on the same page with the Bishop, he could not have captured what the clergy man said better than him and advised the Federal Government to rather heed the voice of reason.

Ortom, while reacting to allegation that he was biased in the Bonta-Ukpute communal crisis, he expressed his readiness to face those accusimg him, revealing that he will meet with some stakeholders over the crisis with a view to find a lasting solution.
