Nasarawa: Nupe community advocates for Chiefdom, staff of office

The Nupe community in Nasarawa State have called on government and relevant authority to create their Chiefdom as well as presentation of staff of office to the chief.
The State Sarkin Nupe, Alhaji Baban Soro Bello made the call when thousands of his subjects paid him Sallah homage in his palace in Lafia.
According to him, Nupe people are all over and constituted lager populations of the state yet they don’t have Chiefdom of their own.
Alhaji Baban Soro Bello said Nupe community are very loyal to government of the day and Lafia emirate council for meaningful development of the State when need arises.
“We have a long time relationship with Lafia emirate as they married from us and vice versa, therefore, there is a mutual close relationship between us which exist for many decades.
He reiterated Nupe’s commitment in ensuring peaceful coexistence between them and other ethnic group not only in Lafia, but the entire state
“Nupe are well known all over as peaceful, loving people. This culture of ours we will continue to maintain it anywhere we found ourselves.
“And the facts remain that Nupe are no longer settlers in Lafia and for this single reason, I’m appealing all Nupe communities to be law abiding citizens; also champion oneness, unity and oneness among us for the benefit of upcoming generations.
He further explained that unity is a key component of meaningful development.
